SCO Set to Launch 3G And 4G Services In AJK And GB. The Special Communication Organization (SCO) has successfully upgraded and replaced its GSM Network in the region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB). Major General Amir Bajwa of SCO said that now “SCO is capable and ready to launch 3G or 4G services in the mentioned regions”. SCO All Set to Launch 3G/4G Services in AJK & GB.

The previous core-legacy network of SCO was not up-gradable to 3G/4G network but it is now upgraded so that it can support 3G and 4G technologies.

 

SCO All Set to Launch 3G/4G Services in AJK & GB

Under this project of SCO, the network has been upgraded in the following verticals:

  • Up-graded to latest HRL version for 3G compliance
  • Redundancy solution for HRL to Ensure zero service outage Configuration of 1+ 1 (Active + Standby) and N+ 1 redundancy solution is available nowadays.
  • Up-gradation to latest model of MSC and UMG

 

“SCO has upgraded the network by installing required equipment and is ready for launching 3G/4G services in AJK.”

 

Said Major General Bajwa while briefing the National Assembly Standing committee on Information Technology and Telecom.

Last year, we have heard about Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) efforts that it has announced 3G/4G spectrum auction in both AJK and GB. And now the network up-gradation in this regard has been done by SCO so hope so we will hear soon about the arrival of Mobile Broadband (MBB) in both AJK &GB.
